Lady Gaga opts for understated elegance in strapless gown at Oscars

She's not one to shy away from publicity and the Oscars was no exception for Lady Gaga.
Despite not being nominated for anything at Hollywood's annual ceremony, Gaga made sure to steal all of the attention by arriving late after all of Tinseltown's stars had cleared the red carpet and taken their seats inside the Dolby Theatre.
As a result all eyes were on the eccentric popstar, who opted for an elegant Versace gown - a far cry from her usual bizarre outfits -  and platinum and diamond bracelet by Lorraine Schwartz.

Platinum is popular on the red carpet since it holds diamonds and colored gemstones most securely, and makes them sparkle.
Gaga pulled her blonde hair back off her face and wore a long pink scarf around her neck for her attention grabbing turn.

She is the face of Versace so it's not surprising she chose the designer for the Oscars.
The floor length strapless gown flattered her slim figure and clung to every curve.
It was not immediately clear why Gaga was attending the Oscars.
There was no sign of her boyfriend Taylor Kinney, although the couple have been more loved up than ever lately.
The singer and the Chicago Fire star engaged in a romantic and intimate Twitter interchange last month, which began as Taylor put out an important request to his 191K followers: 'Can someone write a poem quick? Something good, please.'
His lady love was quick to provide for her man, tweeting him a poem just minutes later.

In a moment of pure artistry, this is what Gaga came up with: '@TaylorKinney111 I love my baby down to sleep, and pray The Lord his soul to keep. Can u pass me the goldfish and the remote?'
The actor and the singer then proceeded to tweet a series of poems back and forth to one another which were either in-jokes or just so profoundly arty it was impossible to interpret them.
The pair have been dating, albeit on and off, since they met on the set of her music video for You And I in the middle of 2011.
And it must be love, because Gaga even went so far as to put aside her own showwomanship to let Taylor have his own glory as she accompanied him to the Golden Globes in Los Angeles in January.
