SUMMER COCKTAIL RECIPES: FRUITY FLAVOURS


Strawberry Daiquiri 
3-4 strawberries 
15 ml simple syrup 
50 ml Zacapa 23 rum 
30 ml fresh lime juice 
A few dashes bitters (preferably orange bitters) 
Super fine sugar, for rimming the glass 
In a cocktail shaker, mix the strawberries with the simple syrup. Add the rum, lime juice, and bitters. Add a couple handfuls of ice, cover, and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds. Use a Hawthorne strainer to strain the cocktail into a sugar rimmed glass.

 Grand esprit 
180 ml Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge liqueur 
90 ml elderflower cordial 
720 ml soda water 
Orange and strawberry pieces 
Two dozen ice cubes 
Mix the Grand Marnier and elderflower cordial and then add the orange and strawberry pieces in your pitcher of choice. Chill the mix. Just before serving, add the ice cubes and soda water to the pitcher, then pour the cocktail into highball glasses.

 Vodka grapefruit julep 
50 ml Ketel One vodka 
25 ml Freshly pressed pink grapefruit juice 
15 ml Freshly pressed lime juice 
8 Fresh mint leaves 
10 ml Pomegranate syrup 
10 ml Simple honey syrup 
Stir in the honey with all ingredients, then add the ice. Shake and strain over crushed ice in a highball glass.

 Pomegranate Margarita 
45 ml Don Julio Blanco 
75 ml pomegranate juice 
2 teaspoons fine sugar 
20 ml lime juice 
Lemon slice 
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Strain contents of shaker into a sugar-rimmed cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon.


Spicy Margarita 
45 ml Don Julio Blanco 
20 ml lime juice 
10 ml simple syrup 
2 slices watermelon 
Remove the rind from the watermelon slice. Cut it into chunks and add it to a shaker. Muddle the watermelon with simple syrup, then add the rest of the ingredients and shake well. Double strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a small watermelon slice.

Cîroc coconut 
25 ml simple syrup 
50 ml Cîroc Coconut Vodka 
100 ml fresh grapefruit juice 
A few dashes bitters (preferably orange bitters) 
Dried shredded coconut (optional), for rimming the glass 
Gently coat the rim of a cocktail glass with a piece of grapefruit rind. Cover a saucer with a thin layer of shredded coconut and roll the outer rim of the cocktail glass through the coconut. Set aside. Fill a cocktail shaker with a couple handfuls of ice. Add the Ciroc Coconut vodka, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and bitters to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, then strain into the prepared glass.
